Thank you so much for your feedback, Sarah! Many people on Reddit and Facebook have also said they’re going to start using this term. It’s amazing to see that my writing has an actual impact on people’s lives. I’m very new to the blogging world, and comments like these mean a lot.
Love this. A simple change I can make today when responding (politely, as always) to posts and opinions from those who claim to be 'committed carnivores' etc. 'Committed necrovore' has a very different vibe that I suspect they would not want to identify with nearly as readily, but they have no valid argument about its accuracy as a description.
Sarah, thank very much you for your feedback - and for becoming a supporting subscriber! It may sound like an empty phrase, but it really means the world to me. I've been an animal rights activist for seven years, and I never dreamt that my writing would get so much attention online. I'm so glad I tried it anyways. I now see that this project has huge potential, and I'm determined to use it. If you are the Sarah Benn I know from Guardian articles, you are a HUGE inspiration - but even if not, I'm honored to have you on board. Thank you so much for joining, and let's continue our joint fight for a better and kinder world. The situation may look bleak, but compassion and love are much more powerful than violence. We will win. Hugs & have a wonderful day!
Yes, I have been in The Guardian recently to do with climate activism. Like so many I was vegetarian (used to say it was for climate and animals), and thought I was living a good life. I went completely plant-based to shrink my Carbon footprint as much as I could. I dived into vegan diet and quickly discovered the awful truth about dairy and eggs, and all the other non-food exploitation of animals I had never really thought about before, despite being an ''animal lover''. I will always remain vegan for the animals.
Regarding climate, it makes me so sad that the biggest thing an individual can do to reduce their impact on global heating (and the suffering of sentient beings), is to change what they eat to vegan diet, and yet it is hardly talked about. Instead people are obsessed with recycling and plastic reduction (still very important of course), but they see other changes as beyond them completely because they can't afford solar panels/electric car etc. and are just unaware of what they could do at every single mealtime.
Oh WOW, it’s amazing that it’s really you! 💚 I’m so happy to welcome such an inspiring and determined fellow activist to Vegan Horizon. Thanks again for joining, Sarah :) That’s a big motivation.
Many thanks also for sharing some of your thoughts and experiences. I couldn’t agree more with all you wrote. It’s incredible how veganism is still treated like something niche (or even “radical”), when it is actually the key to urgently needed change in so many areas. And yes, everyone can do it. Everyone can choose the right side of history three times daily.
We just need to be creative in getting our message out there. Looking into the determined faces of activists around me, I’m more than hopeful that we will succeed; that we will be stronger than Big Ag disinformation. Nothing can stop us.
Brilliant
Thank you! 😊 I have just begun. There's some crazy stuff waiting in the pipeline. Stay tuned.
Excellent writing and perspective! I'm going to use this term and explanation. And share!
