When people express surprise at the passion and urgency driving the vegan movement, it reveals something important about them — and I say this without condescension, I’ve been there myself.
It reveals that these people haven’t remotely grasped the significance and far-reaching impact of the vegan cause.
This may sound a little harsh, but I’m not exaggerating.
They haven't understood how profoundly the animal agriculture industry tramples on values they themselves hold dear, how recklessly this industry squanders resources vital to their own survival, and how fundamentally this industry contributes to our greatest global crises — from world hunger, deforestation, and climate change to species extinction, dying oceans, and the mutation and spread of infectious diseases.
It is not only the cruelty against trillions of animals that make this industry the biggest source of suffering on the planet, but also the horrific impacts on our own species, ranging from human trafficking, slavery, torture, and forced displacement to illness, starvation, and countless deaths from environmental pollution. Needless to say, the industry’s massive contribution to human-made climate change poses an existential threat to all life on Earth.
According to the United Nations, the world is on the brink of six environmental “tipping points” that could cause abrupt and irreversible damage to water supplies and life-sustaining systems, shake the foundation of societies worldwide, and lead to total ecosystem collapse.
“Don’t worry, they’ll tell you!”
We’ve all heard the meme: “How do you know someone’s vegan? Don’t worry, they’ll tell you!”
I’m not here to claim that vegans are perfect or that we always time our educational impulses well. But the truth is: most of us don’t act out of arrogance but because we sense an overwhelming urgency. We know just how much is at stake — not just for us, but for all of humanity and beyond.
Anyone truly familiar with the current science on the issue knows: to effectively combat climate change and environmental destruction, phasing out animal agriculture is not merely an option — it is an imperative.
Those who understand the realities of today’s livestock production also know that there is nothing remotely acceptable about the insane cruelty inflicted on animals, the severe pain they experience, and the utter neglect of their basic needs.
“Maybe tomorrow”
The time to act is not tomorrow or next week — it's now. The stakes couldn't be higher, and the consequences of inaction couldn't be more dire.
Our planet, once teeming with abundance and diversity, is now a fragile web of life, strained to its breaking point. But we can still save it. Each choice we make sends a ripple through the world. When we choose compassion over cruelty, sustainability over destruction, and life over death, we contribute to a powerful wave of change.
The urgency of the vegan cause is not just about the animals or the environment; it is about the kind of world we want to create. It is about recognizing the profound impact of our daily decisions, choosing a path that honors life in all its forms, and inspiring others to do the same.
Is there still hope?
If you think veganism is a lost cause, think again. In fact, veganism is the fastest-growing lifestyle movement in history.
The collapse of the livestock industry is not only likely but increasingly imminent, driven by powerful economic forces, rapid technological advancements, and shifting demographics. If you’re interested in details, click the link below to discover how these transformative forces are setting the stage for the end of livestock farming.
There is hope. But we have no time to lose, as we are edging closer to climate tipping points and ecological ‘doom loops’. We can no longer afford to wait, to hope that someone else will take responsibility. Every single purchase and every single minute of activism counts.
The animal agriculture industry will die — but we need to use every peaceful means available to ensure its collapse happens before it brings the world around it to ruin.

I really appreciate all these posts, and generally share them on FB. This one, however, is being removed by FB for violating some standards, which it's obviously not. Anyone else having this problem?
