Thank you for sending a letter to the creators. I am curious about their response!

Hated watching this video. After years of watching them and paying attention to their stances (particularly on animal agriculture), they never really take a strong stance on anything. It's pathetic. Thank you for making this!

Fully agree, Dani. The slick visuals and polished voiceovers might fool some, but it’s really just a glossy cover for a lack of commitment to truth and poor research. This video was the last straw for me. I really can't take them seriously anymore.

I hadn't heard of this video but it really misses the point that there is no caring way to raise and murder an animal. I recently watched the documentary Christspiracy - what an eye opener! I recommend it if you haven't seen it yet.

A great read. I usually watched their videos, but couldn't bring myself to watch this one, because I had a feeling this is where it would lead. Did you send them that message, and have they replied?

Thanks for reading, Robert! Yes, I’ve reached out to them but haven’t received a response yet. If I hear back or notice any updates on the Kurzgesagt platform, I’ll be sure to share them.

I ate animals for 34 years and used to believe that there was a kind way to farm them. I changed my mind after a long time of introspection and research. I already know how they are treated on factory farms, and don't need the reminder. Since then, I've heard all the evidence and arguments, and am yet to be convinced that there is a kind way to farm animals.

Love your blog. Here's a minor typo:

> The top-rated comment on Kurzgesagt’s video video captures it well

Should be:

> The top-rated comment on Kurzgesagt’s video captures it well

Thanks so much for helping spread the word, Caliga—I really appreciate it!

I’m hoping some readers might reach out to Kurzgesagt directly at info@kurzgesagt.org and encourage them to respond to the critique. It’s important they feel some pressure from their audience to take this seriously. But of course, no worries at all if you're too busy.

The video doesn’t mention animal ag’s impact on world hunger, ocean dead zones, deforestation, biodiversity loss, water and air pollution, climate breakdown, antibiotic resistance, or pandemic risk — despite overwhelming evidence.

Kurzgesagt has spoken about these issues extensively in their videos, and clearly explained how meat consumption in any form can not be superior to the environment than veganism.

This kind of thought policing is not constructive. People are allowed to say more than one thing in a discussion. Just because Kurzgesagt does a video on farming practices, and says clearly its not perfect, does not mean that they advocate that system.

It is extremely easy, and disingenious to take one ten minute video and write a self congratulatory post about misleading it is. Anyone can do that, becausse 10 minutes cant do anything.

Why dont you watch all of their meat and animal videos and write a critique based on their entire position?

Hi Billy, thanks for your comment.

Kurzgesagt's previous videos on this topic have also been misleading. See, for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0HKvl5dYV0

In your comment, you're addressing just one out of seven points of criticism that I have raised in this article. Kurzgesagt's video clearly has multiple major flaws and shortcomings - and we should expect better from a platform of their reach.

What I'm doing here is not 'policing', but simply holding them accountable for what is - in my view - a dangerously misleading video that has reached millions of viewers.

I don't expect them to address all impacts of animal agriculture in depth in a 10 minute video. But it's not okay to not mention them at all. We're not talking about minor environmental impacts here. We're talking about impacts that are literally an existential threat to humanity. See: https://open.substack.com/pub/veganhorizon/p/meat-milk-and-mass-destruction-why
